Spring is officially here and that means it’s time for DC Hood Hopper to try out the newest patios in the city. Enter Pound the Hill. By day it is a neighborhood coffee shop on Pennsylvania Avenue, serving some of the best teas and Kickapoo Coffee (the 2010 Micro-Roaster of the Year). By night, it turns into the Bistro & Wine Bar, with boutique wines and craft brewed beers.
As you walk up to the Bistro, you are greeted by laughter from the patrons relaxing at the tables outside. But that isn’t the only outdoor space. Pound recently opened their back patio, perfect for enjoying the longer days and warmer nights.
We loved the cordon bleu croquettes that came with a honeycomb on the side. And if you are thinking about something sweet, you have your choice of one of several desserts that the chef rotates daily. Our suggestion, though, is to ask for the goat cheese and honeycomb shooter. The glass of Cuvee Marin served alongside balanced it perfectly.
But what we are dying to try next time is Pound’s signature Nutella Latte. That may warrant two trips – one during the day and another at night! Share your favorite thing on the menu at Pound.
